Like a dark cloud hovering up above
…more threatening as it draws nigh
The unknown assaults all normal senses
…with panic and stressful sigh.

Asking what will be the final outcome
…will things fall in place as was planned?
Can any assurance be placed on what’s coming
…or will everything just be damned?

The unknown questions all understanding
…life isn’t viewed as quite the same
A force to be reckoned with every moment
…with “fear” as its alternate name.

…when you know what is right
But knowing what road you should take
…demands time and insight.

Feeling a way is right to choose
…without giving much thought
Can lead you to a place you lose
…a battle long hard fought

The only path to know the way
…leads one to up above
Where He alone knows what to say
…to help you find true love.

The last thing I want to feel
…the warmth of sunlight on my face

The last thing I want to smell
…the salty breeze in off the ocean

The last thing I want to see
…the sun setting in a colorful sky

The last thing I want to know
…that I made a difference.

Like others, I have often thought
How simple life would be
If I woke up some day to find
I’d won the lottery
Debts that haunt from days gone by
Erased within a day
Unencumbered, my new life
Could now start on its way
Fulfilling dreams long hid away
No hindrances to find
Thoughts of worry and regret
Erased now from my mind
Traveling, when I felt the urge
Exploring varied places
Helping friends and bringing smiles
To many different faces
Would my values be the same?
And just my life lived easier
Or would the freedoms newly gained
…make life a little sleazier?
Could I still appreciate
The wonder nature brings?
Or would my heart leap only when
The cash register rings?
Those with money seem to live
A life that’s never-ending
They rarely get much peace of mind
For all the cash their spending
Their friendships although many
Rarely stand the test of time
As each one seeks their future
In this ladder they can climb
Those who often have the most
Complain and moan and groan
Sometimes it’s just a cry to say
They’re scared and all alone
I guess to win the lottery
Will always be a dream
But winning and living life are
…both harder than they seem.
